Boyd Hill Nature Preserve is the best of the lot down here. It is, also, by the way, the only one that charges entry, too. But for $3.00 (yes, the price of a beer) you can have access to 800 acres of the greatest boardwalks and most scenic area I have yet to experience down here.
Old oak trees with Spanish moss look regal and imposing.
Ah, a gator swimming about.
I see him and he see's me. Thankfully, I'm atop a walkway.
A snail or some such thing along the bank.
This hawk was scanning the terrain.
Sometimes the walkways end and you are on ground.
No swimming today. A kid down here got his arm taken off last week swimming. Ealier this summer a tour guide had his hand taken off by a gator while feeding one. They are all over the place, and seemingly, always hungry.
Crusing the pond.
I left the walkway and went around to get another view of the guy above. This was the best picture I could get.
There are turtles, to walking around munching the grass.
This guy was old and slow.
