Tuesday Tidbits

Attila the Hen lives!  However, I'm told that this is a rooster, thus the name is anatomically incorrect.  Aside from that Attila was thought lost, consigned to the boiling pot.  However, during one of our walks, Whizzbang and I noticed Attila strutting his stuff last week.

Why did the chicken cross the road?   To elude the hackled back of Whizzbang, aka, Dumbstruck the Wonder Pup?   Or maybe to test the reflex of Kitschland drivers? I don't know, I don't do chickens.  But, sadly, after these pics were taken, I have not seen hide nor tail feathers of Attila.  Is this the end?

Well, I thought I had secured my Cabin in the Woods 2.0, but it didn't work out.  August 2019.  August 2019...

Fox suddenly dropped news of the caravan after the election.  Also, the army changed the name of the Operation Faithful Patriot to   simply a border support.  Just in case you were wondering why no caravan news.  Whew, I was really worried about that smallpox they were bringing with them.  Especially since it has been eradicated for decades.

I don't want to brag, but my posts are enjoyed by well over 5 or 6 people worldwide.

This is me every morning with Florida sunshine.  I hate it.

Too bright.  Too blue.  Too hot.  Never changing.

With the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Armistice ending World War I, I am reminded of a small link to that date that existed on Uncle Ed's farm, where I worked in the summers.  There were two corn cribs on the farm stead that we emptied and shelled every year.  Ed wasn't exactly cutting edge.  It was a small farm with the tried and true, not the latest.  One of the cribs, Ed mentioned with regularity, was finished on Armistice Day back in 1918.  It is gone now.

Kenzie, Drew and the kids gave me a gift last week, just because, that has created quite the stir.  They gave me an Oculus Go VR headset.  I'm not into the shooting of zombies stuff, but the haunted houses are fun.  I tried the rollercoaster but my stomach is still jumbled from that.  It's fun, but jarring.

This is a postcard on Ebay now.  It shows a road going into Seaton.

Is that 3rd Street?  If so that is the road going in from Fisher's Corner.  The East End, where we grew up was virtually non-existent at this date.

“Life is a play that does not allow trials … So, sing, laugh, dance, cry and live intensely every moment of your life … before the curtain down and the work ends without applause” -Charles Chaplin

Summer Swim

It's Monday and the start of another work week.  Except for me.  I have the week off because the parents of my daycare charges are taking the week off, too. This is one of those wordless posts I love on Mondays so I can put my laziness in full view of loyal readers.  These pics need no words.  Why muddy the waters?   They were taken at the pool at Sinkhole Estates aka Death Valley.  The nice thing about this pool is it is heated in winter.  If one must find positives in one's situation, I suppose that is one.  But, please, no more.

Flashback Friday

Class, Or Lack Thereof The Dwight Vice gravestone in Oquawka, Illinois. I bring this old chestnut out every so often just to remind me that class is classless.  Dwight Vice was killed in his home near Oquawka in 2001.  It was one of those things that can generate crime:  two guys thought Dwight had a lot of money stashed at home because of his pot-selling sideline to supplement his fishing job.   Not really one of those big drug deals gone-bad things.  Marijuana was, according to the trial, about the only stuff Dwight sold.   But these two guys barge into the house and killed Dwight and attempted to kill his 11 year old kid, Darryl, before they took off with what money they could find.   His son, now 23, was stabbed in the back and left for dead.  He survived and is wheelchair bound and has undergone several surgeries to repair his wounds.  He will be paralyzed for life.   None of this is pleasant.  Reading the facts of the murder and attempted murder are most unpleasant
