Best Buy, Indeed

Yesterday morning I received a call from Drew, who was at the gym talking to some fellow trainers. He told me Best Buy was offering 52" HDTV's from Samsung for $9.99. I started the purchasing process and put in a quantity of 2, one for both of us, and proceeded to the checkout. Whoops. That's when reality, corporate economics and greed snuffed our dreams. It was a great try and I have since learned that Best Buy will not honor the purchases that did go through before they caught their mistake. What was the sign outside Twelve Oaks plantation in Gone With the Wind, "Samung 52" HDTV's - That's The Stuff Dreams Are Made Of"?

I'm Flying!

Flying has not lost its charms on me.  I am still, after all, a small town kid and the thrill of it all is still just as real and palpable as the first time I climbed on board a plane.  That was back in my graduate days.  I took an Ozark flight from Denver to Waterloo and then to Peoria.  One could say that after flying with them each day since has been a gift.  Today I fly Allegiant and while they are at the bottom of safety maintenance and mechanical failure, no flight has ever crashed.  Knock on wood!  Where's some wood!  I can't find wood!  OK, I found a window sill.

These are the fields, small towns and by-ways of the Midwest.  This flight, taking back to Kitschland from a few weeks up North in June was one of those late afternoon, night flights that are pretty awesome.
