Tuesday Tidbits

Tuesday Tidbits is a compendium of things I have either done or seen this week.  It is also stuff found while browsing the internet this week.   It may or may not reflect my feelings on any topic.

“The medieval warrior, realizing the consequences of his impulsive act, immediately approached the owner of the drone and offered to pay for the damage.
The owner of the drone was so impressed by the brilliant attack that he suggested organizing a competition for bringing down “dragons” with short spears next year.
Drone owners have another year to develop a unique “dragon-like” design for their flying machines.”

I am 100% cooler with this knowing that the spear-thrower realized “oops maybe I shouldn’t have done that” and tried to make it right, and that the guy who the drone belonged to was cool with it.

just so everyone knows, this has already been memorialized in a runestone

Tracks in freshly fallen Northlandia snow.

This was obviously a guy - wouldn't stop for directions.

"Oops.  Jesus,  all this area and I run into a sign post?!"

Another week, another Trump crony sentenced to prison.

One of my favorite spots down here.  Vinoy Park, then move a bit over to the right and you have Straub Park and the dog park,  and then Central Avenue.  Fun always in downtown St. Pete.

If being "present" counts for success, then certainly being there late does too.

And speaking of trees.

A lone tree in a field north of Seaton.  Beautiful, majestic and a survivor.

The evolution of us.  Unless you believe in the literal interpretation of the Bible, in which case you are kinda out there.

This is the time of year when the call of the Cycle gets extremely strong.  I'll be back in Northlandia for a couple weeks in May and here's hoping the weather will be better than last year.

And finally, while driving along 1st Avenue in St. Pete on Sunday, I spied this real, no lie, fricking Rolls Royce driving next to us.

I wet my pants.

Now they are saying not to take baby aspirin daily to ward off heart attacks.  How many times do we get a recommendation from the medical world only to see a reversal?

No.  It is not safe to leave the house.

You have not received any updates on Whizzbang, aka Dumbstruck the Wonder Pup for quite a while.  She has begun to accompany me on my early AM walks.  It's not working out too well.  She slows me up by sniffing at every post we walk by and occasionally will find a tidbit she wants to eat.  But, unfortunately, I opened the gate to the secret garden and don't know how to leave her behind.  She has also been going just about weekly to the Vinoy dog park on Sundays.  She is mauled, mauls others, is sniffed to an inch of her life and sniffs others and seems to enjoy it all.  Her lethargy on Mondays is worth it.

By the way, did you see the big dog exhibit/study at the California Science Center?  They claim a dog can tell who stops at a post, for how long, and which way they were going.  Man, that's a lot of info for a single sniff.  Must be their equivalent to our Google.

Summer Swim

It's Monday and the start of another work week.  Except for me.  I have the week off because the parents of my daycare charges are taking the week off, too. This is one of those wordless posts I love on Mondays so I can put my laziness in full view of loyal readers.  These pics need no words.  Why muddy the waters?   They were taken at the pool at Sinkhole Estates aka Death Valley.  The nice thing about this pool is it is heated in winter.  If one must find positives in one's situation, I suppose that is one.  But, please, no more.

Flashback Friday

Class, Or Lack Thereof The Dwight Vice gravestone in Oquawka, Illinois. I bring this old chestnut out every so often just to remind me that class is classless.  Dwight Vice was killed in his home near Oquawka in 2001.  It was one of those things that can generate crime:  two guys thought Dwight had a lot of money stashed at home because of his pot-selling sideline to supplement his fishing job.   Not really one of those big drug deals gone-bad things.  Marijuana was, according to the trial, about the only stuff Dwight sold.   But these two guys barge into the house and killed Dwight and attempted to kill his 11 year old kid, Darryl, before they took off with what money they could find.   His son, now 23, was stabbed in the back and left for dead.  He survived and is wheelchair bound and has undergone several surgeries to repair his wounds.  He will be paralyzed for life.   None of this is pleasant.  Reading the facts of the murder and attempted murder are most unpleasant
