Take Out the Trash Day

'61 Fury Convertible, 1 of just 6,948 manufactured, is an almost impossible task. Finding a survivor that is ready to be enjoyed is almost like winning the lottery. Here's 1 -- let's take a closer look! Officially named "V 800," Plymouth's polyspheric "A" engine develops 230 real horsepower. The car is factory-equipped with "torsion-aire" front suspension and powered steering, as well as the new-for-1961 alternator. Posted May. 21, 2019
Used 1961 Plymouth Fury 49,244 miles, Black

> Thank you for your inquiry regarding my car and I am sorry for the delay in my answer.
> I have clear title for it, no liens or loans.
> The car is priced to sell quickly and the final price that I'm asking for it is $6,000 including shipping and handling costs. My husband died 3 months ago and me and my daughter decided to sell the house and move to my sister's. The car reminds us very much of my husband but we finally understood that we have to move on with our lives. Although my husband will have his place in our hearts forever. I can't afford to take days off my work for this sale so i'm trying to sell it online.
> If you are really interested in purchasing the car please reply to this email and i will provide further instructions regarding payment and delivery.

I’m sorry to hear about your loss.  I will need more pics of the car and I am a little confused about the shipping and handling costs.  If I purchase the car, I will pay for shipping  Is there any rust?  Does the engine smoke?  Thanks, Mike Blythe.,

> Thank you for your kind thoughts.
> All the pictures i have taken for this sale are attached

Nice car. Surprised your not asking more. Is this car in Harrisburg?

Mike

Please take a few moments and read my email carefully, I know it's quite long, but I think it's important that you understand everything before you commit to purchase.
I have to let you know that i listed all over US because shipping is included in the price.
The car is at eBay's shipping centre in Norfolk, NE and from there it will be shipped to my buyer's address. I have registered the car with eBay Buyer Protection Program so a local pick-up is not an option.This transaction is covered by eBay Buyer Protection Program up to $20,000 and if something goes wrong in this transaction you will be fully refunded. In the invoice you will have the details on how to make a refundable payment and shipping back the car will be my concern. I strongly assure you it will not be the case for a refund. I have used eBay Buyer Protection Program in the past and all my transactions ended successfully. You pay to eBay Buyer Protection Program and they will transfer the funds to me only after you receive the car at your address.
The financial part of our transaction is going through eBay and here are the steps:
- I need your full name, shipping address and phone#;
- I will forward this information to eBay purchase protection department and they will start our transaction;
- eBay sends you the invoice with payment details for our transaction;
- after they secure the payment, they will notify me and I will start shipping. Shipping will take no more than 5 days (2 days to prepare the shipping and 3 days for the shipping depending on your location).
- after you receive the car you will have another 5 days to inspect it.
- when the inspection period ends, eBay contacts you and if there are any issues with the car, they will fully refund you within 3 business days and the car will be shipped back at my expense. If all is good with the car which I'm sure it will be, they will assist you with the title transfer and release the payment to me.
I apologize if it seems like I'm pushing on this deal but I really want to be sure that everything is clarified before any further steps. I'm a serious seller and I prefer to deal with a serious buyer.
If you agree with these terms, please send me your full name, shipping address and phone numbers (both cell number and home number), in order to start the transaction! eBay will send you important guidelines and instructions regarding the protection program and payment instructions.
I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Which company are you using for shipping the car?  How many miles are on the vehicle.  Thanks, Mike

Mileage - 49,244.
The other question is already answered. Just read my emails with high attention so you can understand how I want to conduct this sale.

OK, sometimes I go window shopping for old cars.  I found this ad on a site called Oodles, advertising a 1961 Plymouth Fury convertible in mint condition for 6K.  Some owners will post a pic of a car similar to theirs if it was restored so I contacted Ms. McNally to get more info.  This is the text conversation we had.  You will notice that not only will she sell that gorgeous 'Vert for only $6,000 but she will ship it also.

A car similar to the one above will go for around $40,000 to $75,000easy.  First the '61 Plymouth is rare and highly sought.  Second a car this nice and a convertible will bring big big bucks.  In addition, transporting a car like this one, and you would certainly have it in enclosed transport, would cost another 3 - 5 grand.  And it has been listed since May, and no takers.

This is a scam and Oodles needs to be more vigilant or shut down.  This is how people get snookered.  Be careful out there, guys.

Summer Swim

It's Monday and the start of another work week.  Except for me.  I have the week off because the parents of my daycare charges are taking the week off, too. This is one of those wordless posts I love on Mondays so I can put my laziness in full view of loyal readers.  These pics need no words.  Why muddy the waters?   They were taken at the pool at Sinkhole Estates aka Death Valley.  The nice thing about this pool is it is heated in winter.  If one must find positives in one's situation, I suppose that is one.  But, please, no more.

Flashback Friday

Class, Or Lack Thereof The Dwight Vice gravestone in Oquawka, Illinois. I bring this old chestnut out every so often just to remind me that class is classless.  Dwight Vice was killed in his home near Oquawka in 2001.  It was one of those things that can generate crime:  two guys thought Dwight had a lot of money stashed at home because of his pot-selling sideline to supplement his fishing job.   Not really one of those big drug deals gone-bad things.  Marijuana was, according to the trial, about the only stuff Dwight sold.   But these two guys barge into the house and killed Dwight and attempted to kill his 11 year old kid, Darryl, before they took off with what money they could find.   His son, now 23, was stabbed in the back and left for dead.  He survived and is wheelchair bound and has undergone several surgeries to repair his wounds.  He will be paralyzed for life.   None of this is pleasant.  Reading the facts of the murder and attempted murder are most unpleasant
